Sound Transit needed to develop a new web site to help communicate complex information regarding the transit agency’s proposal for regional expansion. The content included transit route alternatives, cost information and project timelines. Each portion of information needed to be interactive in order to meet the unique needs of the project.

EnviroIssues worked closely with Sound Transit to ensure the new site maintained the look and feel of the agency’s existing materials. With the goal of providing accessible information for residents in three counties, our online and graphic design team developed a series of interactive maps and scenarios that helped bring to life the complex information.

When three Puget Sound agencies were tasked with developing tolling conversations throughout the region they knew they needed a robust web site that could clearly deliver the information. The site also needed to be independent of the three agencies and have a user friendly navigation to help the public engage with the information.

EnviroIssues started by guiding the committee through a creative brief process. The committee was then given several options that incorporated the expressed tone and feel. Our approach allowed the committee to evaluate the designs based on how they would like the target audience to engage with the site. With a focused design, our team added technical and interactive components that increased web site traffic, provided interactive elements, and measured user’s behavior to inform real time changes to the site.

Two major utilities are planning to build a transmission line across two states. Limited funds, multiple agency coordination and a broad geographical audience were all challenges in developing a dedicated project web site. Our team was tasked with creating a web site that contained all the project information, had a distinct identity, and had the look and feel of each of the partners’ visual identities.

Our team created a cohesive and identifiable site that clearly presented information to the public and provided multiple ways for the public to provide feedback and receive project updates. Our team also created a digital database that allows team members to have web access to information. This innovative database allows thousands of contacts and comments to be coded, tracked, archived, and sorted, in a short amount of time.

With a limited budget and tight timeline, a water bottling company needed to find a creative way to help tell their story to local communities. EnviroIssues developed a video in order to educate residents about the complexities of siting a facility and how supplemental water collections works.

The timeline and budget for the project did not allow for new footage to be shot so our team worked with existing video to pull shots, develop a script, and provide narration and final edits for the video. The result was a compelling piece that helped our client better communicate with the public.

When the voters opposed both options for the central viaduct replacement, WSDOT, King County and the City of Seattle began a cooperative process to reach an agreement on a replacement solution. This process was communicated to the public at numerous community briefings and open houses. The tri-party agency wanted to ensure the public understood their process and how the central waterfront option would be incorporated with the ongoing viaduct work that is currently underway.

The solution was to take the existing PowerPoint presentation used for the briefings and open houses and adapt it for the web. A narrative script was recorded and combined with the presentation.

The Tolling Implementation Committee was conducting an on-line survey as part of their outreach for the 520 tolling project. Because of the wide range of corridor users, the team wanted to make the survey available beyond the people already following the project.

EnviroIssues created banner ads, using Flash software to increase visibility, and placed them on web sites with high volumes of people following local news. The ads had links directly to the tolling web site so people could learn about the tolling scenarios before taking the survey. Over 8,600 people responded, providing extensive and valuable feedback to the committee regarding issues related to tolling the 520 bridge.

In anticipation of the grand opening, Pierce County’s Public Works and Utilities Department asked EnviroIssues to develop permanent displays for their new Central Maintenance Facility (CMF). The CMF is a $40 million facility that was constructed in order to consolidate two existing outdated road operations facilities, house the Equipment Services Divisions, and act as a back-up Emergency Operations Center.

Using material elements from the building and local historical photos, EnviroIssues designed and supervised installation of permanent displays. Displayed in the lobby of the CMF, these unique pieces give visitors a “behind the scenes” look inside the world of Pierce County’s Public Works and Utilities Road Operations Division. The displays feature vivid photos, interpretive objects mounted on the walls and standing display podiums that describe the work of Pierce County road crews in detail.

Communicating complex scientific information is a challenging task, especially when involving information regarding the important cleanup of hazardous materials at a former nuclear site.

Our graphic design team has been helping the Hanford Advisory Board share their progress in the form of an annual report for over 10 years. Through a clearly designed layout, the public is able to understand the complex information, navigate the technical information and access important details outlining the cleanup’s developments.

Seattle Children's Hospital is seeking to educate the community, businesses and elected officials about the institution’s need to grow in both campus size and research capabilities. The hospital’s strategic plan lays out a 5-year road map for integrating the growth of the clinical, research and educational programs of the hospital on the existing campus in Laurelhurst and around the Puget Sound area.

In order to better educate the public, our graphic design team created an engaging postcard to help walk the public through the project. The piece was visually appealing and complimented the Hospital’s look and feel while maintaining distinct characteristics to show it was part of the master plan initiative.

The City of Sammamish wanted to find a way to share their newly adopted Town Center Plan with residents. It was important to city staff to explain the purpose and need for the plan, the vision behind the future Town Center, how public input shaped the elements of the plan. They also needed to explain what is left to accomplish in order to implement and realize this new "heart of the city" for Sammamish.

Through creative graphics, our team developed a clear brochure that combined both images and text to explain the Town Center Plan. Residents were able to learn about the next phase of the project and to better visualize what the completed project would look like in their community.

Having an identifiable image is important for public and private clients. Developing that identity can be challenging and requires experts that know the right questions to ask. Chambers Creek experienced how rewarding the process can be as they embarked on a logo development process.

Our graphic design team developed a creative brief to help the county identify the look and feel they wanted. We then turned the words into images and provided several options that highlighted the work being done in the region. The final product was a logo that helped Chambers Creek define itself as it continued to develop a new neighborhood identity.

Twice a year the Viaduct closes for inspection. During the closures the public can go on guided tours of the infrastructure to learn more about the Alaskan Way Viaduct and also the Moving Forward projects that are currently underway. Providing clear information about this complex project required a series of boards to walk the public through all of the components from the elevated structure to the central waterfront plans.

Our graphic design team developed a series of boards that built off of the existing visual identity of the project and walked the public through the important topics covered during the tour. The boards were also created to be easily used at local open houses and briefings.
