Let’s go way back to 1990, when Pat Serie started the company as Environmental Issues Management, Inc. The company quickly grew to 5 people. We still worked out of our homes during those days, but had already begun to expand our business from national low-level radioactive waste management to local work on site cleanup and comprehensive planning.
Moving downtown in 1993, we became 'a real business' and our staff increased to seven employees. We shortened our name to EnviroIssues, and lengthened our local client list. We bravely entered the worlds of essential government services like wastewater, pipelines, and correctional facilities. This strong, women-led team made it to our fifth anniversary and celebrated a client list that included the King County Department of Natural Resources, Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council, Seattle Planning Commission, and City of Mercer Island.
In 1998, we moved closer to the Pike Place Market and closer to some of the wonderful splendor our region has to offer, adding beautiful views, marine air, fresh foods and room for our
growing team.
We started off the new millennium by tripling our staff and expanding our office space to accommodate our growth. In 2000 we also added an office in Richland, Washington. The expertise of our staff had also grown and includes transportation, solid waste, natural resource, and land use backgrounds.
In 2003, we decided to expand our services south to Portland. Today our Portland and Vancouver offices are busy working on transportation, watershed, and green streets projects, to name just
a few.
To meet growing demands in south Puget Sound we opened a Tacoma office in 2006. With a beautiful and historic office overlooking the city, staff eagerly volunteer for projects that take them to our newest location.
Having long worked in Idaho, we were thrilled to officially expand our presence and open an office in 2007.
EnviroIssues has come a long way from the one-woman shop run out of a home. Today we have over 70 employees and offices in Seattle, Tacoma, Richland, Boise and Portland. Although our office space has expanded, and number of employees has grown, we remain committed to providing the grassroots, creative, and dependable service our clients have come to count on for the past 19 years.
