We are a staff of 80, and since 1990 have successfully worked to communicate complex government, transportation, environmental, and urban planning issues to members of the public in the Pacific Northwest. Project Coordinator - Seattle

We are looking for a recent graduate in a relevant field or a candidate with one to two years of experience to support our Seattle office projects. Primary responsibilities include support for a variety of transportation and environmental projects, including maintaining project databases, compiling meeting summaries, preparing publication materials, and coordinating public outreach efforts. This individual must be able to demonstrate attention to detail, excellent writing, good organizational and computer skills (especially with Word and Excel), and the ability to adapt to changing environments and work with multiple project teams and topics.

Communications/Outreach Associate - Seattle

Qualified applicants will have at least two years experience planning and conducting outreach or public involvement activities, or community/public relations, city or state planning, or general communications experience. Applicants must have excellent management and oral and written communication skills. This position requires the ability to understand and explain technical and environmental information to a variety of audiences, often in high-profile situations. Knowledge of Seattle and transportation related issues desired. Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access).

Administrative Assistant - Seattle

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced administrative assistant. The position requires the candidate to be a well-organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy. Responsibilities of the administrative assistant include: General office administration, meeting scheduling, report generation, company fleet management, meeting materials preparation, and special projects.

A minimum of two years of related work experience is required. Also essential is a knowledge of Microsoft Office, the ability to communicate effectively both written and orally, and the ability to resolve issues quickly. Experience with Deltek accounting and management software is desirable. The candidate must be a highly self motivated team player, able to multi-task, and pay attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

Outreach Associate – Seattle

We are looking for energetic, creative professionals with eight to 15 years of communications experience in the environmental field. Staff management and project management experience are required, including developing and managing budgets. Consulting experience is preferred, as is work in one or more of the following sectors: the transportation, environmental cleanup, land use, infrastructure, energy, and/or natural resource management.

Candidates should have experience developing and implementing results-oriented strategic outreach approaches for a variety of public and private audiences; coordinating efforts between multiple jurisdictions; and incorporating key messages and developing print and web/social media-based materials for a variety of activities/events.

Facilitation Associate – Seattle

We are looking for energetic, creative professionals with eight to 15 years experience providing facilitation services in the environmental field. Staff management and project management experience is required, including developing and managing budgets. Consulting experience is preferred, as is work in the transportation, environmental cleanup, land use, infrastructure, energy, and/or natural resource management fields.

Candidates should have experience leading large and small groups, made up of elected officials, technical experts, and/or community representatives; developing and executing decision-making processes; and helping groups reach agreement.

Marketing Associate - Seattle

We are looking for energetic, creative professionals with eight to 15 years experience providing marketing support for projects in the environmental field. Staff management and project management experience is required, including developing and managing budgets. Consulting experience is preferred, as is work in the transportation, environmental cleanup, land use, infrastructure, energy, and/or natural resource management fields.

Candidates should have demonstrated success with brand development, community based social marketing and behavior change campaigns, developing and executing strategies, copywriting, and event and media planning.

Portland/SW Washington Public Outreach/Events Internship - Summer 2012

Are you a high-energy, can-do, detail-oriented person who is excited to interact with the public and learn about local communities and events? If so, we need you! EnviroIssues’ is seeking a public outreach and events intern for Summer 2012 to conduct outreach in southwest Washington.

The primary role of this position will be to staff information tables about regional infrastructure projects at summer fairs and festivals. The successful applicant must be flexible, a problem-solver and able to adapt to changing environments. The ability to engage diverse members of the public in conversation is essential. The position will require working evening and weekend hours throughout the summer. Applicants should be interested in energy, transportation, land use and environmental issues – and ready to learn!

Other potential tasks could include compiling meeting/event summaries, coordinating logistics for public outreach efforts, preparing information materials, and maintaining project databases. The internship is anticipated to last three months (starting in June), and will require 20-40 hours per week. This is a paid, hourly position.

Requirements/Preferred Skills

  • Great people skills required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Students working toward communications, public relations, marketing, environmental, or other science degree are ideal. Minimum of three years study toward undergradute degree is preferred.
  • Access to reliable transportation preferred.
  • Applicant should have basic computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).

Location:
The majority of work will take place at events throughout southwest Washington. When not at events, outreach preparation will take place at EnviroIssues' Portland office, located downtown near Portland State University.
