Sound Transit is revisiting its Long-Range Plan to bring previous studies up-to-date and lay the groundwork for a potential regional transit ballot measure in the next few years. With EnviroIssues support, Sound Transit held a 45-day scoping period to gather public input as part of the environmental review process. We used online surveys, email blasts and a social media campaign to reach the diverse populations within the region. We also developed translated advertising and hung posters at key venues to attract the attention of people who may not get all their information from smart phones.
By the end of the comment period, Sound Transit collected more than 11,000 online survey responses and more than 5,000 narrative scoping comments that will help inform possible alternatives for the Long-Range Plan. The Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement is scheduled for publication in Summer 2014.
